You could make the shepherd's pie mix the day before, and do the potatoes when you are ready, or make the whole lot up and have them ready to go into the oven for later in the day. If cooking from cold, I would suggest they go in at 200'C for 40 minutes. This is also a great recipe for those on a budget, as you only use the number of potatoes you need, and there is no wastage from peeling the potatoes.
